SANTO DOMINGO.- Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts concluded the summer season registering occupancy levels that exceed pre-pandemic figures, with a historic increase, standing at 25% above the year 2019.
“Although the start of the season was still marked by the health crisis and the war in Ukraine, the tourism sector has been able to recover from the second quarter onwards and respond very favorably during the summer, with record occupancy figures and a very favorable forecast for the rest of the year since in this last quarter the good performance of the Canadian market is added,” says Lluisa Salord, SVP Global Sales, Contracting & Distribution.
He says that in the case of the company he represents in all the countries where the brand operates, this summer has been better than in 2019, and in the case of the Dominican Republic they not only exceeded expectations but have broken a historical record in the months of August, September and October.
“The local, Spanish, US, and Argentinian markets stand out for their spectacular growth throughout this summer. Regarding sales channels, it's very positive to see how all have grown, although the direct channel shows the greatest growth. This data encourages us to remain optimistic for the first quarter of next year,” the executive stated.

Currently, Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts has fourteen hotels located in Punta Cana, La Romana, and Samaná. It offers a total of 7,000 rooms in the Dominican Republic under its various brands, Grand Luxury and Fantasia, with experiences, amenities, and services that meet the expectations of its guests, making the destination attractive to hundreds of travelers.
Destinations in highest demand
Regarding demand for Caribbean destinations where the company operates, the most significant increase has been observed in the United States, Spain, and Latin American markets, with a notable rise in sales through online travel agencies (OTAs) and especially through the company's own channels.
"This channel has seen over 100% growth compared to 2019, with the United States showing the largest increase. In the case of hotels in the Dominican Republic, this increase has been even greater," Salord explains.
