SANTO DOMINGO- Asonahores, the Dominican Republic's Hotel and Tourism Association, is returning with its Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange, DATE, which in its twenty-fifth edition will be focused on promoting the public-private agenda, according to details provided by its executives.
The 2025 edition of the tourism fair will take place from May 14 to 16 at the Barceló Bávaro Convention Center in the eastern Dominican Republic, designed to bring together hoteliers, investors, tour operators and key partners in one place.
The president of the entity, Juan Bancalari, in announcing the meeting highlighted that DATE 2025 finds the tourism industry in a good moment, when the country registered the record figure of 11 million tourists in 2024, "reaffirming the position of the Dominican Republic as a regional leader in attracting visitors.".
"This growth has not been by chance, but the result of the private sector's efforts and the support of public policies that have boosted the country's competitiveness," the businessman explained.

He stated that Asonahores is taking on the challenges of the goal set for 2025 of reaching 12.5 million tourists and continuing to consolidate the Dominican Republic as the number one destination in the Caribbean, working with innovation, sustainability and diversification as cornerstones of the local offer.
Aguie Lendor, executive vice president, said that since its creation, "DATE has been the strategic meeting point for the tourism sector.".
"This fair not only boosts business, but also projects the future of Dominican tourism, betting on excellence, adaptability and continuous growth," he said.
Boosting the public-private agenda
This edition of the business exhibition will focus on boosting the public-private agenda to promote the tourist attractions of Santo Domingo, Pedernales, Miches, Puerto Plata, Santiago, Punta Cana, La Romana and Bayahibe.
Lendor highlighted that the goal for 2025 is to surpass the 8,000 appointment requests made in the last version, implementing new distribution channels to promote the event, as well as trade missions established in the Dominican Republic and those that represent the Dominican community abroad.
“This launch marks the beginning of an event that will bring unique business opportunities and strategic alliances. Therefore, we want to invite all stakeholders in the sector to be part of this great experience, to join this essential tourism , and to take advantage of the platform that DATE 2025 will offer to showcase their brands and expand their horizons,” he stated.
