SANTO DOMINGO – The use of artificial intelligence tools continues to expand in the Dominican Republic. An international study indicates that 72% of Dominicans report having used AI-based technologies, a figure close to the global average adoption rate.
The data is part of the Global Public Confidence Study 2025, an international research project coordinated by the IRIS Network of market research institutes , which surveyed approximately 15,000 people in 20 countries to analyze how different societies are adopting and perceiving this technology.
A usage that corresponds to the global average
According to the report's findings, the level of artificial intelligence use in the Dominican Republic is veryclose to the global average, estimated at 73%, reflecting a rapid incorporation of these tools into daily life, work, and learning processes.
The research involved the participation of the Dominican firm Strategy Solutions Latin America, specializing in market research and consumer behavior, which collaborated in gathering local information in cities such as Santo Domingo and Santiago.
Main findings
Among the study's key findings is that 91% of people globally have heard of artificial intelligence, while nearly three out of four have already used a tool based on this technology. However, the report also warns that only 44% of respondents believe they truly understand how AI works, highlighting a gap between technology adoption and knowledge of its operation.
Moderate optimism about its impact
The analysis also examines public perception of the impact of artificial intelligence on the economy and employment. In the case of the Dominican Republic, the study records a net optimism of 17%, slightly below the global average of +24%, suggesting a positive, albeit moderate, view regarding the role of this technology in the future.
Internationally, the results show significant differences between regions. Southeast Asian countries exhibit the highest levels of adoption and optimism toward artificial intelligence, while some European markets show more cautious views on its effects on the labor market.
Juan José De Arrúe Ruiloba, CEO of Strategy Solutions Latin America, pointed out that this type of research allows us to understand how different societies interpret technological advancement.
“Participating in this global study allows us to contribute the Dominican Republic’s perspective to an international conversation about how artificial intelligence is transforming the economy, work, and society,” the executive said.
This trend has been confirmed by other studies
The growth in the use of artificial intelligence in the country has also been highlighted by other recent research. A study by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) found that nearly seven out of ten Dominicans frequently use artificial intelligence tools, especially in activities related to studies, work, and access to digital services.
According to that report, 47% of users employ AI for educational tasks, while 37% use it as a work productivity tool, reflecting a change in the way people interact with technology in their daily lives.
Experts agree that the growth in the use of artificial intelligence poses new challenges, especially in the areas of digital education, regulation, and preparing the labor market for technological changes.
