SANTO DOMINGO – Arajet, the Caribbean's low-cost airline, officially launched its operations in Brazil with direct flights between São Paulo and Santo Domingo, also connecting to Santiago de los Caballeros, Bávaro, and Punta Cana.
São Paulo is one of the 22 destinations the airline offers from the Dominican Republic. Initially, the Brazilian city will be directly connected to Santo Domingo with three weekly flights: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from São Paulo to Santo Domingo, and Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from Santo Domingo to São Paulo.
Flavia Pavie, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Arajet, stated that this new route opens the opportunity for Dominicans to explore the Southern Cone of South America with the lowest fares on the market and a fleet of new and modern aircraft. "Today, Arajet begins a new chapter in national aviation with this connectivity between the Dominican Republic and Brazil, which will increase tourist arrivals, strengthen trade relations between these countries, and allow us to grow as a hub connecting the continent," commented Pavie.
For his part, John Hazim, Consul General of São Paulo, shared a brief message from the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Brazil, Patricia Villegas de Jorge: “The Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Brazil welcomes Arajet to the capital of São Paulo. A new stage begins in Dominican Republic-Brazil bilateral relations. Welcome to São Paulo!” he stated.
Julia Orrico, Air Business Manager of GRU Airport, highlighted the importance of the new route and the start of Arajet's operations in the country. “The Brazilian market has enormous potential, which will only be fully realized when the market is more dynamic, with more airlines and greater competition,” she said.
