SANTO DOMINGO- The public tender for the execution of the project to extend Line 1 of the Santo Domingo Metro was announced this Monday by the Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (OPRET).
"This Monday , August 14, the bidding process begins for several lots , as well as for the Project Manager in charge of supervising and ensuring the quality of the works," reported Rafael Santos Pérez, executive director of the entity .
The project involves an estimated investment of $185,000,000, will benefit approximately 400,000 residents of Santo Domingo Norte, and work is expected to begin at the end of November after the bidding process is completed.
This is a project that includes an extension of 2.3 kilometers after the Mamá Tingó station and will include two stations, car parks and train garages.
Pérez, in providing the information, said that the process was initiated in accordance with Law 340-06, on Public Purchases and Contracts.
Starting August 17, 2023, interested parties can access the tender documents on the OPRET website or the DGCP Portal. Bids must be submitted in sealed envelopes to the OPRET Purchasing and Contracting Department. Registration in the State Supplier Registry, or the process of registration in the State Supplier Registry, is a requirement for participation, as specified by OPRET.
This initiative arises from the high demand for transportation in Santo Domingo, seeking to positively impact travel time and the economy of its citizens. Furthermore, it will be designed to accommodate six-car trains, expanding the system's capacity.
