I'll begin by defining the Metaverse (to avoid any assumptions), which is simply a "virtual world" that we connect to using a series of devices that make us think we're actually inside it, interacting with all its elements. In other words, it's like teleporting to a completely new world through virtual reality glasses and other accessories that allow us to interact with it.
Understanding this, we can say that while it's also a recreational space where you can play and unwind with friends, financial transactions can also take place there, and investors are allocating part of their wealth to acquire virtual spaces, known as NFTs. In other words, virtual real estate assets are non-fungible digital assets (NFTs), representing a limited and scarce virtual space that resides within the Metaverse.
However, with the arrival of the Metaverse, the real estate world has not escaped this trend that is here to stay.
We now have the ability to virtually explore digital spaces and locate corporate and personal properties on a map. Just like real estate, it becomes a game where owners, investors, and tenants of virtual assets, which have a real-world price, use virtual currencies for their transactions.
As in real life, plots in central locations of virtual cities are the most valuable, due to the amount of traffic they receive from new users.
With this in mind, the commitment to dominating the virtual world is evident, so we will have to get used to living between two worlds and being able to carry out real estate transactions both in real and virtual ways.
We've been seeing it in TV series, movies, books, and children's games for years. Does The Matrix sound familiar? Or do your kids play Minecraft or Fortnite Roblox?
I imagine you are familiar with the company Facebook, which since 2021 has been called Meta and is one of the biggest drivers of the metaverse.
Tell me, how much do you know about the metaverse, and if you've already entered it, have you seen any real estate offers that have caught your attention?
