SANTO DOMINGO- The president of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), José Ernesto Marte Piantini, announced that the Dominican Republic will host the Seventeenth Conference on Air Transport Services Negotiations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 2025, with the participation of the 193 member states.
With the presence of the President of the ICAO Council, Salvatore Sciacchitano, and the Secretary General, Juan Carlos Salazar, Marte Piantini indicated that the objective of this event is to provide a space where member states can carry out bilateral negotiations on air services, substantially increasing the efficiency of the negotiation processes.
“Hosting ICAN-2025 in the Dominican Republic represents a great opportunity for our country. By attracting the interest of the 193 ICAO member states, the Dominican Republic, with its privileged geographical location, becomes the center of international attention, constituting a valuable opportunity to showcase our potential as a Caribbean destination,” stated Marte Piantini.
He explained that the country is experiencing a great opening and liberalization of traffic rights and has a regulatory framework that facilitates investment, and that in 2023 alone, 132,998 air operations were recorded in arrivals and departures, which translates into estimated direct and indirect income for the country of 16,139 million dollars.
