SANTO DOMINGO- The Dominican Association of Housing Builders and Developers (Acoprovi) announced Tuesday afternoon that it postponed the press conference it was to hold that evening, due to the tragedy that occurred early this morning at the Jet Set nightclub, which as of 5:13 pm has claimed the lives of 58 people and left 155 injured, plunging the Dominican people into mourning.
At the meeting scheduled to take place at 6:30 pm, the association will give details of its tenth edition of the Acoprovi golf tournament, which will be held in May of this year.
The construction workers' union expressed its sorrow for the tragedy that occurred while merengue singer Rubby Pérez was entertaining at a party, on the establishment's traditional Monday dance.
“We deeply regret the tragedy that occurred today at the Jet Set nightclub. Out of respect for the victims, we have decided to postpone the launch cocktail party for the Acoprovi 2025 golf tournament, scheduled for this Tuesday, April 8,” the organization said.
The organization did not specify a new date for the meeting, stating that it would announce the date in due course. “We express our deepest condolences to the affected families. We believe this is a time to show solidarity and respect, and we will announce a new date for the event in due course,” Acoprovi stated.
