SANTO DOMINGO.- In the almost three years of the current administration, more than 50,000 property titles have been granted, President Luis Abinader assured yesterday, while leading the delivery of 2,289 new definitive property titles to families residing in the municipality of Sabana Grande de Boyá, Monte Plata province.
According to the president, this amount represents almost 10,000 more land titles than were issued in the eight years prior to his taking office. At the event, Abinader stated that he will continue issuing land titles because his government supports, recognizes, and focuses on the people.
“And I do it because I have always stated that here, in these acts, and in front of you, one knows the purpose for which one serves and for which one works,” the president said.
According to Abinader, the land distribution in that area includes three stages. In the first stage, the titled geographic area corresponds to 537,443.54 square meters.
The titling process resulted in savings of RD$183,120,000.00 for the beneficiaries, since if they had carried out the work privately they would have paid a minimum of RD$80,000.00 each, an amount charged for small plots of land without any geographical complexity.
Abinader opined that having a roof over one's head is recognized in the Dominican Constitution and laws, but that there is not always a direct relationship to materialize those rights, so his actions have the objective of making what is established as a right of Dominicans a reality.
He considered that "it is the best policy, the one that recognizes and gives rights to people, distributes wealth, provides security and, above all, builds a new horizon in the lives of thousands of people.".
“Their lives are the most important thing. Their rights are the priority, and that's how we must always act and think,” the president emphasized.
He explained that the work of the Titling Unit covered a total of 6,800, which have been divided into three stages.
“This is just the first phase, and it comprises a total of 2,289 plots, building sites, and homes. Two more remain, and we will return until we have delivered them all to their rightful owners,” he emphasized.
The titled plots, lots and homes are distributed in the communities of Las Mercedes, La Chamuscada, El Kilombo, La Emisora, Las Flores, La Gallera, El Matadero, Centro del pueblo and Cabeza de Toro.

"The delivery of these degree certificates positively impacts more than 9,156 people," Abinader said.
He indicated that since yesterday, Sunday, the beneficiaries are more in control of their lives and their future, without anyone being able to interfere.
“This is a legal recognition from the Government, but above all, it is an act of justice, because this was their right. From now on, and when they leave this ceremony with their degree in hand, their assets will have grown, their opportunities multiplied, and their peace of mind will be forever,” he argued.
He urged those who have not yet completed the processes that allow the definitive transfer of their degrees to approach and collaborate with the Titling Unit, to open its doors and trust because they will not be disappointed.
The president assured that the goal of achieving a Dominican Republic where the lack of land titles is eliminated as soon as possible is getting closer every day, because progress is being made together with the people as the best way to achieve it.
“Surely at some point in all these years you have heard some politician or leader promise you happiness, well, I promise you justice so that you can seek that happiness,” he said.
He stated that with his actions he gives people "what is theirs so that they can build their future; in their house, in their home.".
President Abinader urged people not to forget that his government will always accompany them on the path to seeking well-being and happiness.
