SANTIAGO.-Forty apartments, in addition to the fifty inaugurated in the first phase, were delivered here yesterday by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, as part of the Mi Vivienda La Barranquita housing project.
The housing units are being built by the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (Mived), whose minister, engineer Carlos Bonilla, accompanied the president and explained that in that area the program includes 136 apartments.
The complex is financed by the Reserve Bank and developed on an area of more than nine thousand square meters that combine play and recreational areas, an exercise area and parking for the purchasers.
Mi Vivienda La Barranquita is part of the Mi Vivienda Plan, announced by the Government, whose initiative includes the construction of more than 7,400 apartments distributed between Santiago and Greater Santo Domingo.
Abinader highlighted the facilities provided by the Dominican Government to help families acquire their own home.
For his part, the general manager of Banreservas, Samuel Pereyra, explained that beyond the direct benefit to each family, the housing project boosts the local economy, generates jobs and stimulates the construction sector, in addition to highlighting the contribution it makes to reducing the housing deficit in the Dominican Republic.
Pereyra reported that the overall project involves an investment of 313,797 million pesos.
During the ceremony for the handover of the apartment keys, an audiovisual presentation was shown, in which one of the beneficiary families thanked the authorities for the assistance provided in acquiring their home.
