SANTO DOMINGO- President Luis Abinader inaugurated 200 apartments in Guajimía this Sunday, with an initial investment of 50 million dollars, which are part of the definitive stormwater and sanitation plan for 5.4 kilometers of the Guajimía ravine, located in the western area of Santo Domingo.

In a few brief remarks, the president stated that in this government resources are allocated to priorities and managed honestly, while affirming that much is accomplished with little.

He assured that those who defame the government with a lie will be met with three truths.

He also stated that international organizations recognize the country's good performance in managing the economy.

"We govern with the goal of creating a quality environment for the population, cleaning up the area, protecting the environment and relocating the affected families to an apartment project.".

"Our commitment is to the people, to making our country a better place for everyone, where we can enjoy our lives and build a future for our families. My government's goal is to change things. And we are fulfilling that promise," the president stated.

For his part, the director of CAASD, Felipe “Fellito” Suberví, highlighted the importance of the canal's renovation, which will benefit more than 350,000 residents in the surrounding areas and those connected to the El Indio, Buenos Aires, La Ureña, Los Olivos, and Las Caobas tributaries. Prior to these works, studies were conducted on the environmental and social impact.

He explained that the housing units, distributed across 14 buildings, consist of two and three bedrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and balcony. The plan also included the cleanup of 5.4 kilometers of the area's ravine, as detailed by Felipe Suberví, director of CAASD.

He explained that the apartments are part of the sanitation project for the 42 kilometers of ravines being carried out in Greater Santo Domingo. Of these, 11 have been delivered, and 11 more are planned for delivery during 2023

“Today is a memorable day for all of us, because we are taking a great step forward with the delivery of these decent and safe homes to the families who were living practically on top of the ravine.”.
