SANTO DOMINGO.-Alexandra Ovalles Félix is an entrepreneur who learned from a young age that to earn a living you have to work hard and take initiative to move forward with your dreams, without giving up and without fear.
She learned the art of entrepreneurship from her late mother, María Félix, whom she saw as a child in the hustle and bustle of selling costume jewelry and running a small grocery store, with which she earned the family's livelihood.
A determined warrior, she knows no fear. Fighting to keep the ship afloat, navigating the rough seas along the way, is part of her very nature. That's why she wants to share her experience, offering tools to women who face a similar journey every day.
The lawyer with a master's degree in real estate law, a real estate advisor with more than 15 years of experience, and manager of her brand Alexa, wanted to share her story with women who, like her, have broken down barriers, to demonstrate that with work, perseverance and positivity, dreams can be achieved.
Last Thursday, August 31st of this year 2023, Ovalles Félix launched his book "Entrepreneurship for Women", with important testimonies from a group of women who have overcome life's challenges to become part of history.
El Inmobiliario shares several questions with the author about her recent book, which is also on sale at the XXV Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2023, where it was presented among the new releases of this edition of the cultural event.
What was the purpose of writing this book?
This book is for every one of those brave, resilient women who carry an entrepreneurial spirit within them but sometimes struggle to bring it to fruition. Here, I share the strategies I've used to launch my own business, sustain it, and keep going. I want to show each of you that it is possible, that we can achieve our dreams, and that by being positive, persistent, and consistent in what we do, we can succeed and inspire others to take the plunge.

What inspired you?
I was inspired to know that through this book, I can empower women, help them recognize their worth, and teach them to break down barriers, remove obstacles from their path, and transform them into opportunities, ultimately achieving their dreams. I urge every woman not to give up, because those who stop dreaming stop creating, and that's what allows us to wake up each day with a new dream and a project up our sleeve, ready to make it happen.
Who are the women who offer the testimonies in the book?
These are stories of some women very close to me, who have gone through difficult situations and who today are successful women, helping other women to overcome their difficulties.
At what age did you start your entrepreneurial journey?
At 16 years old.
Can you list some of the areas in which you have ventured?
Clothing store, accessories, jewelry sales. Currently, I have an online space, kalexbellerd, for renting formal dresses; I am also the manager of ALEXA, my personal brand.
How long have you been in the real estate sector and under what brand have you worked in the trade?
I have been working as a Real Estate Advisor for over 15 years, providing real estate sales services to Plusval Venta Directa, through Ovalles Félix y Asociados; also in and BOU SRL, among other real estate agencies.
How many real estate transactions have you handled in these 15 years in practice?
I've closed many deals, both rentals and sales. I don't have an exact number, but it's been quite a few. In fact, for several years now I've been traveling to the United States, specifically New Jersey and New York, where I find potential Dominican clients. I encourage them to invest in the Dominican Republic, advising and motivating them, and inviting them to view properties virtually from there, or to send family members if they can't come in person. I've had a large group of clients who have been very successful with their purchases. Through this strategy, I've been able to get many to make their investments and encourage others to do the same.
