SANTO DOMINGO– She has character and is well-prepared. Strong as an oak, brave, and valuable. In every project, she gives her all to leave her mark and, together with her team, make the best impression on her clients. She doesn't relinquish her leadership skills, demanding results with respect and without being overbearing.
Her name is Johanny Cabrera Acevedo, an architect from UASD, with a master's degree in construction management from the Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE), a professor at Universidad O&M, a master builder graduated from INFOTEP, an active member of the Dominican National Army, a mother, a daughter, and the manager of Construc Arq & Solution Johanny Cabrera SRL, an empowered Dominican woman who breaks barriers and paradigms by relying on her strength as a woman every day.
The digital newspaper El Inmobiliario spoke with this warrior, who since 2019 has carefully and diligently managed a role seemingly reserved for men, although she is a faithful witness that when women are given the opportunity and entrusted with responsibilities like the ones she exercises, they impose their mark with absolute dedication.
Originally from Santo Domingo Oeste, she resides in Hato Nuevo de Manoguayabo and says that her attraction to construction came from a love for it, project management, and managing male personnel; in addition to "demonstrating that as a woman we can become what we want, that there are no limitations when we have the guidance and strength that God gives us," says the well-prepared Jhoanny.
She is the sole provider for her children and parents. She declares herself in love with her career, which she pursues with love, passion, and devotion. “I give my all in every project so that my clients are satisfied and the entire team is happy,” she says in her conversation with this newspaper El Inmobiliario.
As a profession traditionally associated with men, this imposing teacher must be seen and treated with respect. “They see me as capable and strong, especially when time is a limiting factor; I simply hone my character and maintain mutual respect.”.
Courage, humility, responsibility, punctuality, and camaraderie complement the pillars on which this iron lady bases her work, which is basically carried out in male-dominated territory. "I mostly work with men in everything; they accept my ability, my leadership role without being overbearing, with respect," she says.
The real estate industry is full of women, from architects and engineers to sanitary, electrical, and structural engineers, plumbers, mechanics, and others in related fields. However, the inclusion of women in the sector is still in its infancy. Jhoanny believes that women never disappoint those who entrust them with responsibilities.

There is a long way to go to achieve women's conquests in all fields of knowledge, in some more than others, but what is evident is that wherever they are they build paths, leave footprints, break records, set new standards, prepare the ground and even if the sky clouds over, they clear the landscape with their immense power.
