Over the years, the kitchen has become the heart of the home; it's no longer just where meals are prepared, but also where quality time is spent with family and friends. The Spanish magazine AD published an article outlining the new kitchen trends for this year. Let's see what they have in store:
- Marble and wood, with built-in shelving
“The kitchen has ultimately become one of the most important elements. We designed it ourselves, and it features a high cabinet area and a sculptural island with a large cantilevered marble table.” The aim was for it to blend harmoniously with the living room without dominating the space, opting for a sincere and striking design that would go unnoticed: “The sink, for example, is made from the same marble as the kitchen niche,” explains Iñigo Iriarte about this extraordinary guest house.
- Stainless steel and terracotta tones
It seems difficult to combine two seemingly disparate trends like the one that urges us to paint everything in pinkish, terracotta-like tones, and the one that encourages us to opt for stainless steel kitchens. However, nothing is impossible for Jean-Philippe Demeyer, who also incorporates another trend in this kitchen: designing kitchens 'for life'.
- Color block
“Faced with compositions made up of multiple tones—often used in a disjointed and disparate way—we advocate for practically monochromatic palettes,” predicts Estudio DIIR (AD 100). At the same time, proposals like this one from Studio Noju are also emerging, in which color becomes a separator. In their first project, a 60-square-meter apartment in Triana, the spaces are not defined by physical partitions, but by a common language of textures, materials, and colors.
- Open to the world
In the ongoing debate of 'open kitchen, yes or no', it's clear that the first option is winning. In fact, we're going even further, embracing the trend that proposes uniting it with the surrounding environment through "open layouts that connect with nature in color and materials," as the representatives from Cosentino explained to us.
- Ancient, yet modern
In the kitchen of Wander founders Eduardo Beotas and Carmen Bustos's new home and office, Patricia Bustos has designed a space that is both traditional and cutting-edge. This is evident in its colors, shapes, and materials: it features trendy terracotta, with ceramic lamps and fringes from Saint Honoré, open shelving, and clay tiles from Maora Ceramic. A celebration of craftsmanship.
- In black
Black has arrived in the kitchen. The traditional idea of painting cabinets white to brighten the space has been largely abandoned in favor of the greater sophistication offered by this striking color. It's an option we're seeing more and more in American homes like this one, a timeless and fresh New York loft with a contemporary and sexy look.
- Sculptural curves
Designers and interior decorators continue their love affair with Venetian terrazzo, the traditional flooring made from marble and crushed stone. Here we see it reinterpreted by SapienStone, with an island of sculptural forms that are very much in vogue, especially thanks to its curved lines.
