SANTO DOMINGO- The province of Dajabón will be the new protagonist of "Tourism in Every Corner", on August 2nd and 3rd of this year, a platform promoted by the Ministry of Tourism for the promotion and development of domestic tourism.
This action aims to coordinate all the tourism offerings of the community, integrating the sectors that make up the province of Dajabón, highlighting its tourist attractions and the potential of the destination.
Tourism in Every Corner implements a comprehensive strategy to raise local profile and promote, both nationally and internationally, the province's main tourist, cultural, and historical attractions. This includes ecotourism, history, cuisine, and the unique culture of the province.
The meeting also promises to have a significant impact on the creative economy, benefiting sectors such as transport, agriculture, hospitality, commerce, as well as the food and beverage industry in the participating localities.
This edition will feature local exhibitions highlighting the folklore and art of the people of Dajabón, as well as a vibrant schedule of artistic and cultural activities.
About Dajabón
This border province comprises five municipalities: Dajabón (the capital), Loma de Cabrera, Partido, Restauración, and El Pino, as well as their municipal districts: Cañongo, Manuel Bueno, Capotillo, Santiago de la Cruz, and Trinitaria. It is located in the northern region of the country, near the provinces of Montecristi, Santiago Rodríguez, and Elías Piña (Southern Region).
Beyond the trade that characterizes the province of Dajabón due to its location in the country's border region, it boasts a great diversity of water resources and significant biological importance, represented by four (4) protected areas that are part of the National System of Protected Areas: Laguna Saladilla, Río Chacuey, and the Cayuco and Cerro Chacuey Forest Reserves. It is worth noting that 7% of the province's total area is within protected areas.
It has cultural attractions such as: Monument to the Cry of Capotillo, in the municipal district of Capotillo, municipality of Loma de Cabrera, Monument to the Battle of Beller, and Monument to the Japanese Emigrant, in the municipality of Dajabón and the Obelisk in the municipality of Restauración.
It features nature tourism, such as the El Salto Spa in Loma de Cabrera and petroglyph viewing areas along the Chacuey River, near the municipality of Partido. Partido is also home to the Honey Route, a Sustainable Community Tourism project created by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ministry of Tourism for community development.
Tourism in Every Corner
“Tourism in Every Corner” is a pioneering platform for promoting and supporting local tourism, with a focus on sustainability and inclusion. Officially launched in August 2022, this campaign seeks to foster the connection between knowledge about tourism products and community development, inviting all Dominicans to explore their country and enjoy its diversity. This effort involves key stakeholders in the tourism value chain in each region, promoting sustainable management and development.
To date, the initiative has had a presence in the provinces of Hermanas Mirabal, Monseñor Nouel, María Trinidad Sánchez, Espaillat, Monte Plata, Azua, Monte Cristi and San Pedro de Macorís, including a prominent meeting at the “Son de Keka” event in Santiago.
