SANTO DOMINGO.-The three main commercial banks in the Dominican Republic recognized the outstanding work done by David Collado as Minister of Tourism for achieving extraordinary records in the sector.
During the celebration of the 62nd anniversary of the Dominican Republic's Hotel and Tourism Association, Popular, BHD and Reservas banks recognized Minister Collado's work for his dedication and commitment to the tourism sector, which contributes more than 15% of the Gross Domestic Product to the economy.
“For his dedication and commitment in his management of the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) of the Dominican Republic,” says the plaque of recognition presented by banking representatives to the official.
Collado expressed his gratitude for the distinction and reiterated his commitment to continue promoting the sustained development that tourism has achieved during his tenure.

“I humbly accept this recognition and extend it to the members of the Tourism Cabinet, because the achievements and success belong to everyone,” Collado said.
He stated that in addition to his own work, each record achieved, such as the arrival of 10 million visitors, is the result of the joint effort of the public and private sectors.
He highlighted the contribution of banks to the development of tourism, as they have specialized portfolios for the sector.
He pointed out that part of the industry's development is due to the financing provided by national banks to the tourism industry.
The Dominican Republic had its best year in tourism history in 2023 with the arrival of 10,306 thousand visitors and it is expected that by the end of this year 11,500 thousand visitors will arrive in the country.
The Dominican banking sector, led by Banco Popular, Banco de Reservas, and BHD, began the recovery in 2020 with strong support, providing financing to the sector and, above all, backing and sponsoring the most important tourism fairs in the world.
