SANTO DOMINGO.- Summer officially began on June 20th, and the trend towards colorful decorations has displaced minimalist interiors in neutral tones.

Butter has become popular again in 2024 due to its ability to provide a feeling of well-being and serenity.

Feeling comfortable and relaxed at home has become a priority, and this color can play a very important role in achieving it.

Furthermore, in an increasingly chaotic and fast-paced world, it is essential to find ways to create calm and comfortable environments at home.

Adding color to home decor brings vitality and energy, especially with the arrival of summer.

In this context, the trend of "butter" decor is making a comeback. This involves incorporating objects, furniture, and textiles in a pastel yellow tone to add warmth and fun to rooms.

Where and when does the trend emerge?

In the 1960s, furniture began to be produced from different materials, such as plastic. They started designing pieces for both indoor and outdoor use, as it was more economical and durable than other materials.

“Furthermore, you could find many different colors. But the most neutral was off-white, which over time and with exposure to the sun would turn into this buttery color that we love so much,” explains Ekaitz Ferrero, founder of the vintage furniture and design object project Umbo.

The design expert points to interior designer Arne Jacobsen as one of the pioneers in the use of this Pantone color.

“Known for his minimalist and functional approach, he applied soft, warm tones, such as butter, in his furniture and interior designs. His ability to integrate soft colors helped set the tone for the Scandinavian design aesthetic of the time,” Ferrero explains.

But why has this trend returned in 2024?

Interior design expert Ekaitz Ferrero points to the ability of the buttery tone to provide a feeling of well-being and serenity.

“With the chaos and fast pace of modern life, we need to find ways to calm it down, and a great way to do that is to feel comfortable when we get home. It’s important to create a space where you want to be,” she concludes.

How to introduce the trend at home

When it comes to incorporating the butter color into our home decor, the sky's the limit.

The easiest way, as with any trend, is to introduce small objects and textiles, although incorporating it on a large scale can be a real success.

An example is the kitchen where everything from the tiles to the furniture is dyed the fashionable color.

Changing to beige walls will completely transform the space, as well as give the room a very warm feel.

Incorporating this color into home decor can be done in a variety of ways.

The simplest option is to add small objects and textiles in this tone, but it is also possible to opt for a bolder integration.

It is suggested that changing from white walls to beige can completely transform a space, adding a warm touch.

For those who prefer to start with small doses, there are many options: from bedding and cushions to decorative items such as books and candles.
