This is the agreement signed between the Ministry of Housing and the National Statistics Office

SANTO DOMINGO.- As the agency responsible for processing the country's demographic data, the National Statistics Office (ONE) will provide the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED) with statistics through which the agency in charge of housing policies in the country will be able to support and implement its plans to counteract the housing deficit in the Dominican nation.

Yesterday, both agencies signed a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening the implementation of MIVED projects across the country, with the goal of reducing the housing shortage. The agreement was signed by Minister Carlos Bonilla and the Director General of the ONE, Miosotis Rivas.

The agreement seeks to provide statistical information that will serve MIVED in its urbanization processes in the territories, construction, housing, basic infrastructure, public and private buildings among others, in order to have established data that support the process of reducing the housing deficit that the Government carries out, through the agency.

“It is a great pleasure for us to finalize this agreement, and we thank you for your support in taking this step for the institution. It is not the same to find something already underway as it is to have to lay the foundations for what we want to achieve here; the support of the ONE with its knowledge will be of great use to us,” said Carlos Bonilla, Minister of Housing.

According to the publication posted on the MIVED website, the agreement also establishes that the ONE will develop a national diagnosis of the statistical supply of the sectors that are subject to regulation by the Ministry, as well as support in the creation and implementation of the Institutional Statistical Unit of the same.

Rivas stated that "the vision of this agreement is to support them in everything that the law requires at the level of statistics, specifically strengthening the ministry's capacity to produce quality statistics through the administrative records they are responsible for collecting, and above all, helping them to establish the institutional statistics unit, which they do not currently have," the executive explained.
