SANTO DOMINGO.- Thirteen Colombian companies are already stationed at the Colombian Embassy in the Dominican Republic, showcasing their commercial offerings to Dominican businesspeople in the construction sector, including hardware store owners, architects, and designers.
The diverse range of construction materials, presented by ProColombiapart of the strategies to strengthen exports as investment tourism and a national brand.
The Colombian Embassy in Santo Domingo, located on Andrés Julio Aybar Street in the Piantini sector, will host the physical offering of Colombian materials on October 21 and 22 and will make available the 'Building Origins Colombia' platform, a digital development where local entrepreneurs can find the Colombian offering in the sector in a 360º tour.
“ProColombia is delighted to bring to the Dominican Republic a showcase of the best of Colombia’s construction materials. Thirteen companies with the highest quality standards will be on the island to present their products and share their expertise in the sector,” said Flavia Santoro, President of ProColombia.
“The Dominican Republic is a strategic ally and a very important partner with whom we have been generating opportunities and business for years,” he added.

“Additionally, proximity, direct air and sea routes, and the ease of communication are, among others, great competitive advantages when it comes to doing good business,” Santoro said.
During this in-person Showroom organized by ProColombia in the Caribbean, the official launch of a digital platform that brings together the Colombian supply of services, goods and construction materials will take place.
The most in-demand products in the sector are steel, aluminum, solutions for home spaces, bathrooms, kitchens, tiles, locks, paints, metal panels, ceramics, glass, waterproofing, doors, windows, pipes and furniture, among others on display.
Participating Colombian companies: Alumina, Rejiplast, Helbert, Ceramica Italia, Edil, Corpoacero, Eternit, Ultracem, PCP, Ideace, Firplack, Interdoors, Lamitech.
This business meeting will be the prelude to the Expoconstrucción 2021 International Fair, which will be held at the Corferias event center in Bogotá, and which will bring together, for six days, in one place, the most select of the industry in Latin America and particularly in Colombia.
In the case of the Dominican Republic, Colombia exported USD$17.5 million in 2019, USD$15 million in 2020, and by August 2021, exports registered sales of USD$13.5 million, representing an increase of 54% compared to the same period in 2020.
