SANTO DOMINGO.-With the commitment to contribute to the well-being of families lacking a decent home, DOMICEM and Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic have formalized a strategic alliance to develop an intervention project within the 100,000 Floors to Play initiative, aimed at families in vulnerable situations in Saba Grande de Palenque, San Cristóbal province.
The project aims to impact 100 people, facilitating access to a better quality of life for families, by replacing dirt or damaged floors with polished concrete floors, thus guaranteeing access to adequate housing in a progressive manner, explains a press release.
The alliance is part of the regional initiative of 100,000 Floors to Play by Habitat Latin America and the Inter-American Cement Federation (FICEM), together with the local partner Dominican Association of Portland Cement Producers (ADOCEM).
“This project is a clear example of how the union of public and private efforts can transform lives. At Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic, we work for the right to adequate housing for all, and this partnership will allow us to reach many more families who need a safe and healthy home,” said Cesarina Fabián, national director.

The families that will benefit from this project will be selected based on criteria of social vulnerability and housing need, ensuring that those with the greatest needs are the first to receive support, thus ensuring a people-centered approach.
Furthermore, these improvements will not only provide the safety and well-being of a well-maintained apartment, but will also promote social integration, community development, improvements in the financial structure and investment in housing for families.
For his part, Adriano Brunetti, CEO of Domicem, stated that the launch of this project is part of the corporate social responsibility initiatives that characterize the brand, where the well-being of people will always be paramount. "This initiative not only seeks to improve the living conditions of the beneficiary families, but also to strengthen the social fabric of our community in Sabana Grande de Palenque.
