They combine their capabilities to continue boosting MSMEs in the Dominican Republic

SANTO DOMINGO.- Banco BHD and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM) signed a collaboration agreement to boost the competitiveness and productivity of Dominican micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.

This alliance will combine the experience and capabilities of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and SMEs in promoting business development with the financial and technological infrastructure of Banco BHD. This partnership will foster the creation of commercial spaces, provide ongoing training for entrepreneurs, improve access to appropriate financial services, and enhance the competitiveness of SMEs nationwide.

The agreement was signed by Steven Puig, president of Banco BHD, and Victor "Ito" Bisonó, Minister of Industry, Commerce and SMEs.

“Our collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and SMEs is not new. We have been working hand in hand since 2015 through the training programs we conduct annually with the SME centers. This agreement reaffirms our commitment to continue supporting SMEs, opening a wider door to innovation, economic growth and new opportunities,” said Steven Puig.

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and SMEs, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, stated that "this alliance reaffirms that when the public and private sectors combine their capabilities, we achieve initiatives with real social and economic impact, especially for our SMEs, which are the productive heart of the country.".

The agreement will target Dominican micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and will include aspects such as training, financial education and inclusion, sustainability, strategic alliances, and access to new markets and financing options. The implementation of training programs will provide them with instruction in areas such as innovation, the digital economy, financial inclusion, marketing, and other topics that promote sustainable business development.

This alliance will also foster business connections among micro, small, medium, and large enterprises by generating initiatives that will further develop national trade and strengthen the supply chain for priority sectors. Furthermore, it will identify initiatives to strengthen the national productive fabric through the formalization of strategic alliances.

Furthermore, this collaboration between the MICM and Banco BHD will promote circular economy practices and support the formalization of MSMEs to improve their access to markets and financing.
