SANTO DOMINGO. – The National Facilitation Committee (CNF), an agency attached to the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), met with members, advisors, and representatives of the sector to accelerate the progress of digitalization and modernization of air transport in the country in order to reduce procedures and allow for the smooth transit of passengers, aircraft, crews, cargo, and mail.
The meeting, led by the president of the Civil Aviation Board and the National Facilitation Committee, José Ernesto Marte Piantini, was held in compliance with the provisions of Article 265 of the Dominican Civil Aviation Law.
The meeting addressed measures aimed at simplifying procedures for air transport of passengers and goods, with a view to speeding up air navigation and avoiding unnecessary delays for aircraft landing or taking off at Dominican terminals. “Facilitating air transport involves managing inter-institutional public policies,” Marte Piantini explained.
Among the topics discussed by the committee was the status of the establishment of the electronically readable passport, declared of high national interest by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, and handled by Digna Reynoso, Director General of the General Directorate of Passports.
The president of the Civil Aviation Board highlighted the fundamental role that all the authorities involved have in the implementation of the electronic passport as a travel document.
During the meeting, authorities from the different government institutions that make up the CNF and the airlines that operate in the country discussed the improvements implemented in airport services, starting on August 16, 2020, in addition to detailing the agile and effective operation of national airports.
At this meeting, Arlington Duran, Deputy Director General of Migration Control at the General Directorate of Migration, offered a report on the progress of the E-ticket.
Marte Piantini also addressed the progress in air transport services and some challenges that need to be improved to continue streamlining the flow of passengers and cargo.
Likewise, Kerkdenny Medina, responsible for Accessibility and Universal Design at the JAC, presented the progress made in air transport accessibility in the country.
The National Facilitation Committee is made up of the president of the JAC, who chairs it; the members of the plenary of the Civil Aviation Board, the Director General of Migration, the Director General of Passports, the Director General of Customs, the National Director of Drug Control, the Association of Airlines of the Dominican Republic and the Association of Airports.
Also participating as advisors are the Minister of Public Health, the Minister of Agriculture, and the Minister of the Environment, and as a guest, the National Department of Investigations.
