SANTO DOMINGO.– The Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed), Carlos Bonilla, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), Luis Henry Molina Peña, conducted a tour this Tuesday to supervise the construction progress of the Judicial City of Santo Domingo West.
This project, built on 24,795.26 square meters of construction, presents significant progress in the different areas that comprise it.
Bonilla reiterated that “the justice system is important in every society to protect people's rights and is a public service that must be provided under the best conditions, with efficient service and first-class infrastructure,” a press release highlights.
Likewise, Judge Molina Peña stated that these facilities will transform justice in that department, a symbol of "our commitment to a dignified, accessible, and people-centered infrastructure.".
He added that this judicial city will be a model for the justice of the future that all Dominicans deserve: a democratic, efficient and accessible justice system; a justice system that is up-to-date to guarantee the dignity of people.
The project will include buildings that will house the Judicial Branch, the Public Ministry, and the Public Defender's Office.
This infrastructure will include a plaza, green areas, general services, parking and circulation, and will also create thousands of jobs.
The buildings being constructed by Mivhed include the installation of 16 courtrooms, secretarial and forensic interview service centers, a digital lobby, virtual courtrooms, space for approximately 100 parking spaces, court secretarial offices, judges' offices, among others.
The Judicial City of Santo Domingo West will benefit the Dominican justice system by allowing citizens of that municipality greater convenience, saving time and resources, since they will not have to travel to other locations.
