The country will receive a visit from a new ship with a capacity for 1,400 passengers.
SANTO DOMINGO.-The Dominican Republic will receive for the first time on January 25, the Ambience cruise ship of the Ambassador Cruise Service line at the Port of San Souci, according to the vessel schedule for this month of the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM).
Ambience is the new ship of the British shipping agency Ambassador Cruise Service, which has a capacity of 1400 passengers and will be in the country from nine in the morning until two in the afternoon.
Jean Luis Rodríguez, executive director of the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), stated that the ports in the provinces of Puerto Plata and La Romana lead the way in cruise ship arrivals in the Dominican Republic; as well as Port Cabo Rojo, which is advancing in its strengthening as a tourist destination in the south and is the first cruise port in this location, designed to receive Oasis-type cruise ships, the largest in the world.
He indicated that, with the projects undertaken in the institution, such as the National Plan for Rehabilitation, Refurbishment and Construction of Tourist and Fishing Piers, the aim is not only to attract more cruise ship passengers and strengthen the economy, but also to position our country as a benchmark in the region.
The Dominican Republic's cruise port and anchorage report for the January 2025 season states that from the first to the thirty-first, the Taíno Bay, Amber Cov, Sans Souci terminals, the Catalina Island Anchorage and the West Pier will receive foreign visitors who will boost the economy of these areas.
Dates with higher traffic
The reception of the ships with the highest flow of tourists in the Dominican territory, through the different cruise ships, will be on Mondays with 20 visits, Tuesdays 23, Wednesdays 18, Thursdays 25 and Fridays 19.
In that order, the other ships that will arrive will be the MSC Seaside, Rotterdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Carnival Mardi Gras, Explora II, Aida Perla, Carnival Freedom, Costa Fascinosa, Celebrity Apex, Men Schiff 1, Insignia, Grandeur Of The Seas, Aida Luna, Norwegian Breakaway, Independence Of The Seas, Norwegian Prima, Marella Discovery, Norwegian Viva, Celebrity Equinox, Volendam, Norwegian Encore, Carnival Vista, Grandeur Of The Seas, among others.
The data presented corresponds to the projected schedule of cruise ship calls at the ports and anchorages of the Dominican Republic to be received in January 2025, with the clarifying note that there are some variables that may generate changes in it, such as route changes by the cruise line, weather conditions, as well as situations that may decrease or increase the number of calls.
