SANTO DOMINGO.- The first arrival in the Dominican Republic of the Star Seeker cruise ship, from the Windstar Cruises line, which specializes in luxury tourism, is included in the list of cruises that arrived in the country during this January, which has just begun.
The Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM) announced the arrival of more than 120 international vessels during the first month of the year, according to the official cruise schedule released by the institution.
The itinerary includes the first arrival in the Dominican Republic of the Star Seeker cruise ship, from the Windstar Cruises line, which specializes in luxury tourism.
In a press release, the agency reported that the vessel will touch the port of Taíno Bay, in Puerto Plata, for the first time on January 18, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., marking a significant event for the country's maritime tourism.
Jean Luis Rodríguez, director of the Dominican Port Authority, highlighted the importance of 120 cruise ships choosing the country as one of their destinations in the docking schedule.
The program includes visits from ships of renowned lines such as Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, MSC, Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruises, Princess Cruises, Virgin Voyages and AIDA Cruises, reaffirming the industry's confidence in Dominican ports.
During the month, the ports of Taíno Bay, Amber Cove, Puerto Santo Domingo and La Romana will receive multiple calls, generating a direct impact on the local economy, trade, tourist excursions and job creation.
The institutional communication highlighted that January is part of the high cruise season in the region, which extends from November to April, a period in which the main shipping companies increase their operations in the Caribbean, favored by the weather conditions and the high tourist demand.
