SANTO DOMINGO.- The Santiago City Hall and the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) put the Roco tourist train into operation, during an event held at the Gran Teatro del Cibao.
The train will travel to different points in the city, departing from the Gran Teatro del Cibao, as reported in a press document.
According to official information, the route includes areas considered to be of historical, cultural and urban interest within the municipality, with regular operation from its starting point.
Authorities explained that the project is part of coordinated actions between the local government and Intrant to enable alternative tourist mobility options in areas of frequent traffic.
Mayor Ulises Rodríguez stated that the launch of the train "is part of the initiatives we are organizing to improve the use of public spaces and facilitate access to points of interest within the city.".
For his part, the director of Intrant, Milton Morrison, noted that the route “is part of the work we are doing to organize mobility and ensure that travel in tourist areas is carried out safely.”.
The president of Roco Solutions, Carlos Rodolí Conde, indicated that the route will have established stops at previously defined points within the urban area of Santiago.
The official document states that the train will begin operations from the Gran Teatro del Cibao, where the proposal was presented to representatives of the sector and related organizations.
