During 2024, RD$333,585,697.87 has already been disbursed, distributed to 1,402 families.
SANTO DOMINGO.– During 2024, the Dominican government has disbursed RD$333,585,697.87 to 1,402 families through the housing bonus program. This incentive, which has been in place for almost four years, has allocated a total of RD$4,794,483,541.06 to 25,359 families who have benefited from acquiring low-cost housing, the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) reported yesterday.
So far this year 2024 and throughout 2023, the DGII has paid RD$1,986,346,097 in low-cost housing bonds, benefiting 9,038 families, according to a press release.
"These bonds, aimed at Dominican families so they can have a decent space, have been delivered in record time, thus complying with the policy established by President Luis Abinader to prioritize the most important part of our society, which is the home," the press document highlights.
The institution indicated that during 2023 it paid RD$1,652,760,418.09, contributing to 7,662 families having their first home, the highest figure since the creation of this initiative.
These bonds are granted for the acquisition of homes with a price cap of up to RD$5,025,380.75 per housing unit.
Likewise, in 2022 it paid out RD$844,681,058.96, benefiting 4,612 families. Meanwhile, in 2021 it disbursed RD$1,156,474,105.46 to 7,059 families.
In 2020, it made payments of RD$706,982,278.68, which benefited 4,650 families.
This adds to the efforts made by the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed) and the Ministry of the Presidency (Minpre), which have delivered more than 10,000 homes built by the Government itself.

The DGII report highlights that, starting this year, the maximum price for a low-cost home increased by RD$173,169.55 per unit, rising from RD$4,852,211.2 to RD$5,025,380.75, an increase equivalent to 3.56%, according to the inflation adjustment based on data published by the Central Bank. In 2020, the price ceiling for these homes was RD$3,627,969.76.
The low-cost housing voucher is an incentive granted to applicants to facilitate the purchase of homes. This incentive can be used to complete the down payment on the home or applied to the outstanding principal of the loan, if the buyer has already completed the down payment
