SANTO DOMINGO.- Presidential spokesman Homero Figueroa announced yesterday that the Executive Branch has arranged for the formation of a team of national and international experts to conduct a technical study to determine the causes of the tragedy that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, April 8, with the collapse of the roof at the Jet Set nightclub.
“This technical study will be conducted with complete transparency and with full respect for the independence of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the competent body in matters of investigation to determine the steps to follow in the field of justice,” Figueroa clarified.
With the creation of this commission, the Government begins the search for answers that will allow the entire country to know what caused this tragedy "without falling into hasty judgments", and to be able to prevent and strengthen safety standards.
“As a government, this is the time to clarify and act with prudence. Today is a time to support, to offer comfort, to respond with composure. From the heart and soul of a nation in mourning, we reaffirm our commitment to the life of every Dominican,” added the Director of Strategy and Communication for the Presidency.
The team will be coordinated by the National Office for Seismic Evaluation of Infrastructure and Buildings (Onesvie).

Homero Figueroa also praised the work of the rescue brigades, who responded with professionalism to the tragedy. "Thanks to them, all the affected families feel cared for with dignity today."
Likewise, he reiterated that the search, rescue and recovery were carried out in accordance with the internationally established protocol for managing this type of emergency.
