SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED) said yesterday that it has already reached the figure of more than 7,000 homes built in less than four years of management and that in some sectors the Mi Vivienda program completed its planning.
With the 248 homes delivered yesterday in Hato Nuevo, Santo Domingo Oeste, the number of homes built and delivered under the government of Luis Abinader has reached 7,056, the government institution said in a press release, adding that the new units complete 100% of the apartments planned for Mi Vivienda Hato Nuevo, an area where MIVED has already built 1,312 homes, thus benefiting more than 4,400 people.
During the handover, Housing Minister Carlos Bonilla told Dominicans, “Rest assured that we will continue to meet our goals and make history. We remain focused on fulfilling President Luis Abinader’s promise that more and more Dominican families will have their own homes.”.
He celebrated that the institution he oversees has surpassed 7,000 homes and emphasized, "we're going for more.".
The project, which marked the beginning of the My Housing Plan in 2021, involved an investment of over RD$3,337.9 million, generating more than 2,400 direct jobs, the press release states.
Ysidro García, Deputy Business Manager of Banco de Reservas, said that “for the Banreservas group it is a great pleasure to accompany the Ministry of Housing in this successful program, the numbers speak for themselves, more than 7,000 homes throughout the country are in the hands of good and valuable Dominicans who well deserved to have their own roof over their heads.”.

The Mi Vivienda Hato Nuevo Plan in Santo Domingo Oeste consists of 1,312 units, of which 1,112 have three bedrooms and the remaining 200 have two rooms.
This project is built on 85,000 square meters of construction and has 6,275.41 meters of green areas, in addition to 2,346.93 meters of institutional area.
The residential complex also has playgrounds, parking for cars and motorcycles, recreation areas, and a basketball court.
The delivery in Hato Nuevo began in 2022, when 500 new units were delivered, followed in January 2023 when another 100 were inaugurated; subsequently, 464 were added that were delivered last August and these last 248 units that complete the 1,312 homes.
Mi Vivienda Hato Nuevo joins the completed projects of Los Salados and La Barranquita, in Santiago; Los Llanos, San Pedro de Macorís; Villa Progreso, Bahoruco; Las Matas de Farfán, San Juan; Santa Cruz, Montecristi; Santiago Rodríguez and Colinas del Arroyo II, in Santo Domingo Norte.
