The Dominican Republic is participating in an international aviation summit, where the president of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), Héctor Porcella, will sign important agreements with civil aviation authorities from America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
A press release highlights that the new alliances will strengthen the country's air connectivity and consolidate the Dominican Republic as a central player in the international aviation industry.
The JAC is attending the XVI International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Air Services Negotiation Event ICAN/2024, held in Kuala Lumpur from October 21 to 25, a meeting that brings together world leaders in the sector to define and strengthen bilateral and regional air connectivity agreements .
ICAN is the most important global event for air services agreement negotiations , and this year it brings together more than 700 leaders from 84 countries across various regions. The platform facilitates agreements between member countries, and in this edition, the Dominican Republic stands out as a key player in the negotiations.
Porcella highlighted that this achievement is the result of the country's commitment to promoting the sustained growth of the air transport industry, vital for strategic sectors such as tourism and trade.
“The Dominican Republic’s leadership in air connectivity is fundamental, not only to promote the sector’s national interests, but also to consolidate the Dominican aeronautical industry as a global benchmark,” Porcella stated.
The signing of new bilateral and regional agreements strengthens the ongoing modernization of Dominican civil aviation, positioning the country as a key player in the global economy.
“The Dominican Republic’s participation in this event is essential to guarantee safe, efficient, and constantly growing air transport,” added the JAC president.
ICAN offers countries a strategic platform to expand air transport networks, open markets and attract foreign operators, thereby promoting tourism and international trade.
