SANTO DOMINGO.-TheDominican Republic is consolidating its position as one of the most prosperous economies in Latin America and the Caribbean, reaching 5th place in the new “Prosperity Index”, which evaluates both economic growth and quality of life and social well-being .
In the most recent Prosperity Index, which analyzes the comprehensive development of 186 countries based on economic and social factors, the Dominican Republic has achieved a prominent place in the region: position number 5 among 23 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a score of 37.4 out of 100.
This “Prosperity Index” is based on data from the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

With this result, the country ranks only behind Chile, Uruguay, Panama and Argentina, surpassing important economies in the region such as Brazil, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Colombia.
This rise demonstrates remarkable progress in key variables such as the increase in GDP per capita and the sustained reduction of monetary poverty.
These results also reflect important progress in the country in variables such as GDP per capita growth and the gradual decrease in the monetary poverty rate.
With this new ranking, the Dominican Republic consolidates its position as one of the most dynamic emerging economies in the region, which seeks every day to transform economic progress into tangible well-being for all Dominican citizens.
