SANTO DOMINGO. – The General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) reported that the deadline for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), unclassified taxpayers and liberal professionals to adopt Electronic Invoicing, as established in Law No. 32-23, is May 15, 2026.
The entity urged them to complete the implementation process, highlighting that it continues to offer free digital certificates, access to the free invoicing system, technical support, and training sessions nationwide.
According to the DGII, to date more than 1.6 billion Electronic Tax Receipts (e-CF) have been issued, demonstrating the system's sustained progress in the country. Currently, more than 34,000 taxpayers operate as electronic issuers and recipients, including 613 Large National Companies, more than 8,800 Large Local and Medium-sized Companies, and more than 25,000 other taxpayers.
He also specified that more than 15,000 taxpayers are in the certification process, while 143 Authorized Service Providers support the operation of the system.
The institution highlighted that 54% of these use the Free Billing System, a platform designed to facilitate the issuance of electronic invoices in a simple and secure manner.
The benefits of the new approach
Among the benefits of Electronic Billing, the entity highlighted that it facilitates tax compliance, standardizes commercial relationships, reduces paper and storage costs, strengthens the validity of tax credits, decreases the loss of documents, and improves administrative efficiency.
The DGII reaffirmed its commitment to continue providing assistance to taxpayers during the adoption process, within the framework of the country's tax system modernization initiatives.
