SANTIAGO– Square Santiago is the latest addition to the real estate revolution in the northern part of the city, offering a mixed-use concept that is currently very popular. This project will combine a hotel, a public plaza, and a commercial area, located in the historic center of Santiago.
Spanning 2,333.33 square meters, Square Santiago will be built between Calle del Sol, R. César Tolentino, and Manuel Batlle. Its construction was inaugurated last Sunday with the groundbreaking ceremony led by the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader.
“Square Santiago is a tourist-commercial complex made up of five important areas: Hampton By Hilton Santiago Hotel, an alternative proposal for long stays; commercial area, parking and public square,” details the document that describes the characteristics of the work.

He explains that the overall scheme of the project is developed based on the shape and special characteristics of the land, generating a public square that directly relates both buildings that make up the project.
It will consist of two buildings, both with a total of 9 levels. The hotel will have a lobby with a terrace on level 2 overlooking the plaza, 114 rooms distributed between levels 3-8; on level 9 there will be meeting rooms, a gym and a swimming pool, which make up the common area.
“On the left side, Del Sol street, is the commercial building, which shows in its composition, lobby on the first level, commercial premises on levels 1 and 2, on levels 3 to 8 the alternative proposal of long stay is developed with five suites per level and on level 9 there is the gym, pool and lounge, which make up the common area,” the document states.
Developers Sandy Rodríguez Gutiérrez, CEO of Gizeh Constructora, and his partner Jochy Blanco, of Tabacalera Palma, explain that a public square will be developed between the two buildings as a unifying element, thus maintaining the project's connection with the city.
“This plaza is characterized by a ramped area accompanied by a staircase system and a green area that welcomes the user upon access, and also provides a suitable space for the activities generated by the commercial premises located within the project,” they explain.
He adds that with appropriate signage for the project, a road is created which provides access, both vehicular and pedestrian, to the main reception of the hotel, thus allowing a comfortable welcome to the guest, who can use the different areas found within the lobby, as well as recreation rooms and dining areas.
