Spanish group reopens 570-room hotel in Punta Cana, with an investment of 30 million euros

The activity was carried out as part of the 20th anniversary of the Bahia Principe Hotels & Resort complex.

PUNTA CANA, LA ALTAGRACIA PROVINCE- The Spanish-owned Piñero Group officially inaugurated its renovated Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda hotel in Punta Cana yesterday, Wednesday, in this tourist destination, with 570 rooms and an investment of more than 30 million euros.

With the official opening of the remodeled complex, the company stated that it marks a new milestone in its ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation in the hotel industry in the country and that it is part of the commitment to the development of tourism in the Dominican Republic.

Among those attending the celebration were Antonio Pérez-Hernández y Torra, Spanish Ambassador to the Dominican Republic; David Llibre, President of ASONAHORES; Christopher Paniagua, Executive President of Banco Popular Dominicano; and other guests and collaborators of the group, where the twentieth anniversary of Bahia Principe Bávaro Resort was also celebrated under the motto "Legacy and Future."‘.

“The 20th anniversary of the Bahia Principe Bávaro Resort is much more than a celebration; it is a testament to leadership and hard work. Since 2004, our hotel division of Grupo Piñero has expanded its presence in the eastern region to strengthen its value proposition in the destination, becoming today the largest provider of hotel rooms in the country. To date, we have invested more than US$552.5 million in the resort for construction, renovations, and digitalization, reaffirming our commitment to growth, sustainability, and innovation in the Dominican Republic,” said Encarna Piñero, CEO of Grupo Piñero.

He said that after two decades of operation, the Bahia Principe Bavaro Resort has been a vital engine of employment in the community, generating more than 5,123 jobs, of which 98% are Dominican talent.

After 20 years of operation, the hotel complex's evolution and development are evident, resulting in a comprehensive and differentiated offering with seven hotels: Bahia Principe Grand Bávaro, Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana, Bahia Principe Fantasia, Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine, Bahia Principe Grand Turquesa, Bahia Principe Luxury Ámbar, and the renovated Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda, with options exclusively for adults, as well as for the whole family.

For his part, Julio Pérez, Chief Operating Officer of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resort, added: "Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda is yet another example of the efforts dedicated to tourism in this country, with an investment of more than 30 million euros, which allowed for a comprehensive renovation that has raised the standards of the all-inclusive offering at Bahia Principe Bávaro Resort.".

During the opening ceremony, guests had the opportunity to experience Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda's entertainment offering, MATUM, an immersive performance, unique in the Dominican Republic, created and produced by the Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts team, which interprets the history of the Taina culture and its evolution, making use of four elements: fire, air, earth and water.

In addition, in an act of homage and distinction, the trajectory of a group of collaborators who have worked at the Bahia Principe Bávaro Resort since its first year of operation was recognized.
