SANTO DOMINGO.- Arajet, the Caribbean's low-cost airline, received its sixth Boeing 737 MAX 8, named "Isla Saona," with which the brand seeks to elevate, promote and raise awareness about the importance of preserving the country's main protected areas.
The company explains in a statement that Saona Island represents the main tourist attraction for visitors to the East of the Dominican Republic, "so Arajet pays tribute to this beautiful protected area, which the airline always promotes hand in hand with the La Romana-Bayahibe Tourism Cluster.".
Victor Pacheco Mendez, president of Arajet, explained that the airline has a firm commitment to the environment, which is why its fleet of aircraft is the most respectful of natural resources thanks to the efficiency of the Boeing 737 MAX, allowing it to continue developing Dominican aviation by bringing state-of-the-art technology, generating quality jobs, and strengthening and facilitating the country's connection with the world.
“Each of our planes is named after a protected area in the country, in order to raise awareness and promote the importance of its preservation and, at the same time, boost domestic tourism and promote it internationally,” he said.
He added that they are also looking to promote low-cost flights that will connect them quickly and efficiently with the mainland from Santo Domingo.
He indicated that the airline reaffirms its commitment to the conservationof the environment and natural resources, with a fleet of aircraft that will allow savings in fuel, maintenance and operating costs, and pass those savings on to customers, while reducing noise pollution.
The new aircraft
Arajet explained that Isla Saona is a Boeing 737 MAX 8 with a 185-seat configuration, and landed on Dominican soil directly from the Boeing factory in Seattle, USA. Along with Pico Duarte, Valle Nuevo, Jaragua, Ojos Indígena, and Tres Ojos, it continues to increase the company's capacity and fleet, offering the lowest prices to all its passengers, with reliable, world-class service to make Santo Domingo the Caribbean Hub, allowing for better connectivity between the Americas, the press release states.
The company document indicates that Arajet is the first low-cost airline in the Caribbean region and began operations in September 2022 from its base at Las Américas Airport in Santo Domingo, under its Dominican Republic Air Operator Certificate (AOC).
Arajet operates a new fleet of Boeing 737MAX-8 aircraft that provide safe and affordable travel to and from the Dominican Republic to 22 destinations in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean region.
