SANTODOMINGO.- Santiago de los Caballeros is the destination where the Dominican Republic wants to focus its attention at Anato, the main tourism fair in Colombia, which will take place from today until the 24th in Bogotá, Colombia.
Santiago, the second most populous city in the country, will be promoted as a destination through a series of meetings and gatherings organized by the Tourism Cluster. The Dominican Republic will participate as the guest of honor at the 42nd edition of the Anato International Tourism Showcase, organized by the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies since 1981.
"We came to do what we know how to do, which is to make Santiago shine," declared David Collado, Minister of Tourism, upon his arrival yesterday in Bogotá.
The tourism offering of the Heart City, represented through the Tourism Cluster, will have a wide agenda of meetings with outbound wholesalers from all over Latin America gathered within the framework of this trade exhibition in which more than 27,000 professional visitors are expected.
Ramón Paulino, president of the entity, guaranteed that Santiago will showcase its full range of tourist resources and attractions at the important international fair, which will bring together the most representative players in the sector's value chain at the GS 17 pavilion of the Corferias fairgrounds in Bogotá.
He said that the city's presentation at Anato 2023 represents the realization of a dream of men and women who have been working hard for years to achieve this goal.
“This is about the culmination of the vision, mission, and objectives of the Santiago Tourism Cluster, for which we have worked for so long,” said Paulino.
He emphasized that for the destination, being present at the event represents a huge opportunity for international promotion, a platform that will serve as a basis to showcase its diverse tourism options through presentations focused on tour operators, travel agents, and the press in general.

For the third time, the Dominican Republic will be the guest of honor at the Anato International Tourism Showcase, considered the leading tourism fair in Colombia, the top Latin American country and fourth largest source of tourists to the Dominican Republic. It has been organized by the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies since 1981.
In 2022, Colombia received 88,139 Dominican visitors for tourism, events and trade, while the Dominican Republic hosted 293,564 Colombian tourists for the first time, according to data from the Colombian Tourism Association and the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, respectively.
