Taking into account the positive moment Puerto Plata is experiencing with new investments and the increase in tourist arrivals, its authorities are looking to expand the spaces that will allow it to attract an ever-increasing number of visitors to the Bride of the Atlantic.
That is why yesterday, Wednesday, leaders of prominent institutions in that region met with executives from Copa Airlines with the purpose of including a new air route at the Gregorio Luperón International Airport.
“The idea of including a Copa Airlines route that not only covers Panama, but also serves as a link with all of Central and South America, is a project that has been in the works for some years,” declared Carlos Rodolí, president of Ashonorte and director of the airport.
He opined that Puerto Plata is at the opportune moment to finalize it, especially due to the new hotel investments that will be made in the area, according to a press document.
The businessman was accompanied by Mileyka Brugal, president of the Industrial Free Zone and the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Puerto Plata; Birgitt Heinsen, president of the Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster; César José de los Santos, president of the Playa Dorada tourist complex; Humberto Pichardo, president of Ashoresoca, and Kathy Morillo, executive director of Ashonorte.
Copa's delegation consisted of Ibelca Vásquez Salvador, General Manager North Caribbean; María Elena Palma, Fleet and Network Planning Coordinator; and Anthony Robinson, Planning Analyst.
The airline executives showed great interest in the different offers available in the destination and were optimistic about finalizing negotiations in the near future.
