SANTO DOMINGO EAST.-With the delivery of 266 apartments, the fourth and final phase of the housing project in San Luis under the My Housing Plan, the current government administration has reached 2,440 apartments built and delivered in this municipal district and exceeds 9,000 throughout the national territory.
The handover ceremony was led yesterday by the president and the Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed), Carlos Bonilla, who said it is a privilege to see tangible results of the efforts made to promote policies that allow the construction of affordable housing and a better future for families in the Dominican Republic.
This project involved an investment of RD$7.172 billion and created more than 5,400 direct and indirect jobs, boosting the economy of that area of Santo Domingo East, according to a press release from the Presidency.

He explains that the housing program encompassed three phases with 2- and 3-bedroom apartments. San Luis I has 1,416 units, San Luis II has 696 , and San Luis III has 328.Green areas, recreation and play areas, an institutional space, a basketball court, and parking were also created.
Later, Abinader led the inauguration of the renovation of the National Aquarium facilities, a project that involved an investment of RD 93 million by the Banco de Reservas and the Fundación Reservas del País.
The renovation consisted of the refurbishment of the auditorium, equipped with modern lighting, a projector, seats and state-of-the-art technology.
In addition, the aquariums in all the marine rooms were renovated , new forts were installed, roofs and walls were repaired and waterproofed, and interactive panels and screens were installed to make them more attractive and educational for children and adults, among other improvements.
Several new species were added for exhibits, along with a fence around the aquarium's waterfront area. Electrical repairs were also carried out, medical supplies were purchased for the veterinary clinic, solar lighting was installed, security cameras were added, internet cabling was installed, and other improvements were made. The facility had not been renovated since its opening in 1990.
