President Abinader delivers 1,910 property titles in Los Guaricanos

SANTO DOMINGO.President Luis Abinader delivered 1,910 property title certificates out of a total of 3,314 to residents of the Los Guaricanos sector last Saturday , to guarantee legal security and social welfare to thousands of families in Santo Domingo Norte .

During the ceremony, the president stated that more than 10,000 Dominicans are beginning a new stage of their lives with legal security without having to incur any expenses, because the State assumed the cost of the titling process.

The governor stated that he is fully committed to this project because titled properties acquire double the value they had before receiving the property certificate.

“Now, with that title, and to confirm it, we passed a Family Property Law so that you have no limitations; you can go to a bank, take out a loan to build a second floor where your child lives, or take out a loan to start a business on the first floor and move to the second, or to build a small three- or four-story building to rent out,” the governor said.

He emphasized that the beneficiaries will have peace of mind because, by law and right, "that property is theirs and it will not happen, as has happened at other times, that they buy the land from the Government and then try to charge you for it; we do not accept that in this government."

He pointed out that today's event is not just a title handover or an act of legality, but an act of "profound social justice" which, in economic terms, makes the value of their properties "multiply and the Government is very happy about that; moreover, that is our obligation."

He stated that these are facts and results, assuring that the Government will continue in other sectors of Santo Domingo Norte with the delivery of titles so that, in addition to the 130,000 certificates delivered, every day thousands of Dominicans can say that they live in their own home and show their title.

“That is what we seek, and that is why, today, as in every titling ceremony, I am deeply happy, deeply satisfied to do this work of bringing justice, joy, peace and tranquility to each of these more than 3,000 families that we are benefiting today,” he expressed.

Securitization saves beneficiaries RD$265,120,000.00 million

For his part, Duarte Méndez,  director of the State Land Titling Technical Unit (UTECT) , stated that this titling process represents a savings of RD$265,120,000.00 for the beneficiaries , who would have had to invest the money if the process had been carried out privately. “Thanks to President Luis Abinader’s commitment, they are receiving these titles completely free of charge,” the official said.

Méndez explained that, together with the State Sugar Council, the titling covered a geographical area of 473,864.37 square meters, to enable thousands of families to proudly embrace their property title today.

He also announced that the titling process in the sector does not end with this delivery, as work is underway to provide families residing in the community's multi-family buildings with their property ownership certificates for those properties.

He reported that, currently, the entity under his direction is developing projects in Sabana Perdida, La Victoria, Guanuma and El Higüero, "so that you, Mr. President, can continue delivering titles."

Those present included the provincial governor of Santo Domingo, Lucrecia Santana Leyba; Senator Antonio Taveras ; and the mayor of Santo Domingo Norte, Betty Gerónimo.
