SANTO DOMINGO.– Banco Popular Dominicano has become the only company in the country to have the international TIER III Facility certification from Uptime Institute Professional Services, which endorses the proper construction of its main data center, housed in the Torre Popular complex, and which allows the bank to offer 99.98% availability of its digital channels.
This is a new milestone in the banking and data industry in the Dominican Republic, which supports Banco Popular's leadership in the areas of technological innovation and security, thereby facilitating the continuity of operations for the benefit of the 1.5 million customers affiliated with its digital channels.
This international endorsement of its technological infrastructure is the result of an exhaustive on-site audit, carried out by specialists from the Uptime Institute, who certified that the construction of the data center rigorously complies with the standards projected in the plans and the requirements regarding redundancy, continuity and maintenance, among other points.
Commitment to excellence
To achieve certification for this facility, the IT Operations team, together with the Engineering and Security areas, invested a year of work in improving the energy, air conditioning, telecommunications, electronic security and civil infrastructure systems, thereby increasing the reliability and efficiency of the digital services offered by the financial institution.

Certification in design and construction
This is the third certification that Popular has received from the Uptime Institute for its data centers and completes the two TIER III Design certifications awarded in 2023, which positioned the bank as the first in the national financial system to certify the design of its two technological infrastructures, located in the Torre Popular complex and in the NAP of the Caribbean.
The certification body Uptime Institute Professional Services has over twenty years of experience certifying data centers worldwide and promoting best practices for the industry.
