SANTO DOMINGO.-Banco Popular Dominicano held the discussion “Inspiring Success: Women Leaders in Banking” at the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC), an initiative whose objective is to deliver a message of empowerment and guidance to new generations to motivate them to train, work in favor of diversity and inclusion in the business world and leave a mark on society.
The panel is the fourth in the Women's Conversations series, a cycle of open dialogues at universities across the country that seeks to showcase examples of female leadership at Banco Popular and inspire young people, particularly the female community.
This event featured the participation of Antonia Antón de Hernández, Senior Executive Vice President of Human Resources, Cultural Transformation, Credit Administration and Compliance; Lissette de Jesús, Executive Vice President of Finance and Controllership; and María Angélica Haza, Executive Vice President of General Audit, who shared their professional success stories and life experiences to motivate students to develop professional leadership with conviction and determination.
Female presence at Popular
At Banco Popular, women have a significant organizational presence, spanning various levels of decision-making. As a result, women comprise 60% of the organization's workforce, while 54% of managerial and executive positions are held by women, according to a press release from the financial institution.
In the cases of Antonia Antón de Hernández and Lissette de Jesús, both, from their respective positions, report directly to the CEO of Banco Popular, Mr. Christopher Paniagua, making up 45% of his management staff.
Meanwhile, Ms. María Angélica Haza is one of the few female representatives in Dominican banking who is in charge of internal auditing.
From a business perspective, the women's talks are part of the Emprende Mujer platform, through which the bank supports female entrepreneurship, integrates financial products, and complements it with training on entrepreneurship and psychological support.
