SANTO DOMINGO.-The National Statistics Office (ONE) reported yesterday that it completed the X National Population and Housing Census in 28 provinces with the expected level of coverage and that it will now complete the census work in the districts of La Altagracia, Santiago and Greater Santo Domingo with internal personnel.
The institution, which extended the data collection until yesterday, November 30, thanked the Dominican people for fulfilling their duty by providing the required information.
“From day one, society showed empathy and hospitality to the census takers, who were committed to the process that represents the largest and most important statistical operation carried out in the Dominican Republic, which concludes by reaching the expected level of coverage in 28 provinces of the country,” declared the ONE.
After 20 days of work with thousands of census takers in the streets, the ONE stated that, starting today, December 1st, special operations will continue in collective housing, such as prisons, nursing homes, barracks, centers and shelters.
In the missing ones
“In these areas, coverage restoration will focus on very specific zones of the National District and the municipalities of Santo Domingo Este, Santo Domingo Oeste, Verón, and Santiago de los Caballeros. Therefore, the operation will be carried out by ONE internal personnel who have been trained for this purpose,” the entity stated, referring to how the remaining areas will be covered
The National Office of Statistics (ONE) encouraged residents of these three provinces and the National District to participate in this coverage restoration operation. For this purpose, they have activated the telephone number 809-682-2717, selecting option 1, so that neighborhood associations, condominium administrators, and some private individuals can call and schedule a visit to complete the process. If necessary, the visit can be carried out during extended hours.
