My Housing program arrives in Hato del Yaque, Santiago, to benefit 1,200 families

The project will boost the economy by generating more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs in the northern area, and a total investment of 2,796 million pesos.

SANTIAGO.– During his visit to this municipality last Wednesday, the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, took the opportunity to launch the “My Home Hato del Yaque” project, which will benefit more than four thousand people who will be able to have a roof over their heads.

The Minister of Housing and Buildings, Carlos Bonilla, accompanied the President to the opening of the project that will boost the economy by generating more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs in the northern zone, with a total investment of 2,796 million pesos.

The My Home Plan in Hato del Yaque will benefit families at risk who currently reside along the banks of the Gurabo Stream in 14 communities. These areas will also be addressed under a sanitation plan being developed by the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA). The project will benefit more than 4,000 people, according to a statement posted on the agency's website.

Mi Vivienda Hato del Yaque is divided into three lots, comprising a total of 150 buildings. These buildings contain 1,200 apartments with three bedrooms, one bathroom, a living/dining room, a kitchen, and a balcony. The project also includes an institutional area, green spaces, recreational areas for children, outdoor exercise areas, and basketball and baseball courts.

“The construction of Mi Vivienda Hato del Yaque represents a drastic change for the families who will benefit, going from living on the banks of a flood-prone and polluted area, where their health is at risk, to living in their own apartment with the conditions and dignity that every citizen deserves,” Bonilla stated.
