SANTO DOMINGO. – Leonardo Reyes Madera, general director of the National Office of Seismic Evaluation and Vulnerability of Infrastructure and Buildings (Onesvie), stated that more than 20% of the building evaluations that this entity has carried out in three years have come from the private sector.
"Of the thousands of evaluations we have carried out in these three years, more than 20% come from the private sector, which means that, for the first time, we are opening up to this public and offering them a free and quality service," said Reyes Madera, during the launch of the "Citizen Commitment Charter".
The document is a requirement of the Ministry of Public Administration (MAP), with the objective of strengthening the services provided by state agencies to citizens and ensuring transparency in the execution of their actions.
Reyes Madera encouraged citizens to continue coming forward to assess the vulnerability of their buildings with the guarantee that they will be received and attended to as soon as possible.
He explained that the initiative aims to more broadly promote the services they offer to prevent seismic vulnerability in the country and thus contribute to saving lives, adding that "we still have time.".
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Public Services of the MAP, Sheyla Castillo, stated that the "Citizen Commitment Charter" is framed within the purpose of improving the efficiency of seismic risk assessment in the Dominican Republic.
“The Onesvie Commitment Charter becomes a vital instrument for guaranteeing the protection of life and national heritage. Through this tool, the institution commits to streamlining evaluation processes, establishing response times, and providing updated and accurate information,” Castillo pointed out.
Meanwhile, engineer Fausto Estévez, advisor to the Planning and Development Department of Onesvie, indicated that this instrument is a sign of the institution's interest in transparency and a step forward, since citizens can access information quickly and effectively.
The event, which took place in the Auditorium of the Center for Diagnosis, Advanced Medicine and Telemedicine (Cedimat), also included the participation of the deputy director of Onesvie, José Velázquez, heads of the different departments and collaborators of the institution, as well as representatives of other government institutions.
