SANTO DOMINGO.- The Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED) began the work of repairing homes in the 27 de Febrero sector, located in district 3 of the National District.
The intervention is part of the Dominican Republic Rebuilds program, whose objective is to dignify the urban environment and improve the quality of life of families in vulnerable communities nationwide, according to a press release from that state agency.
The press release states that the work includes intervention on Luis Reyes Acosta, Héctor J. Díaz and Gregorio García Castro streets, structural improvements such as changing dirt floors for cement and replacing wooden walls with blocks.
The note also mentions that roofs and painting will be improved, and surveys will be carried out to identify more homes in the area that require intervention.
During a tour of the homes that had been renovated, Minister Ito Bisonó emphasized: “The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MIVHED) is taking on the task entrusted to us by President Abinader: to be present in the municipalities, municipal districts, and in every sector of the country,” the official stated.
During the event, Bisonó was accompanied by council members and community leaders.
The "Dominican Republic Rebuilds" program seeks to reduce both the qualitative and quantitative housing deficit by improving existing infrastructure and building social housing, the press release concludes.
