The agreement aims to integrate Dominican youth into the workforce
The Ministry of Housing and Buildings (Mived) signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement this Thursday with various universities for the creation of the "My Housing Internship" program , with the aim of inserting Dominican youth into the labor market.
The agreement will allow recent graduates to develop their skills, gain field experience, and participate in the housing projects of the My Housing Plan.
The Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (Intec), the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), the Ibero-American University (Unibe), the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra (Pucmm) and the Dominican University (O&M) will be the study centers from which the newly graduated students of the Civil Engineering career will come to carry out internships in the field of construction, for a full year, in the Mived.
The signing of the agreement was led by the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, who emphasized the support of the central government to integrate young people into the workforce and open up the opportunity for their first job.
This government believes in and supports everything related to social development through the specialization of individuals. We are highly committed to providing and creating spaces that generate the conditions for our young people to be confident that, upon graduating from educational institutions, they will enter the workforce and acquire, through work, the benefits of a true welfare state,” Peña stated.
Minister Carlos Bonilla said that “The 'My Housing' Internship will provide students with a tremendous experience in their field of study, carried out throughout the country, in both rural and urban areas. These young people will have the opportunity to work as a team, alongside construction veterans.”.
Among the requirements established to participate in the program are: being Dominican, a recent graduate in civil engineering, with an average index of 85 points or its equivalent between 3.0 and 3.3, a record of grades, a completed internship form, photos, and submitting your motivations in writing.
The selection of interns will be carried out by each university's engineering school, in conjunction with the human resources department of the Ministry of Education (Mived). After reviewing and validating the requirements, the Ministry will be responsible for contracting the interns' professional services.
“Today, we bring students closer to the practical application of their field, to the workplace. This is a fundamental aspect of the work of any competent professional. They will be able to put into practice everything they have learned during their studies and expand their knowledge through us,” Bonilla emphasized.
The agreements were signed at the Ministry of Housing and Construction. Also present were the Deputy Minister of Construction, Engineer Eduardo Guarionex Estrella, along with other members of the institution.
Likewise, the main authorities of the participating universities were present.
