Ministry of Tourism delivers 38 trucks to communities with tourism potential

SANTO DOMINGO.- Tourism Minister David Colladodelivered 38 dump trucks to an equal number of municipalities and municipal districts with a tourism focus, as part of the launch of a sustainability for the different destinations.

The delivery of the trucks, acquired with an investment of RD 107,209,170, took place at an event held on the esplanade of the Quisqueya stadium, in the Dominican capital, with the presence of the municipal and district mayors.

The official made it clear that, more than just the delivery of the 38 trucks, it is the beginning of a sustainability program inthe municipalities and municipal districts with a tourist vocation.

"We have launched a sustainability program to make tourist destinations more environmentally friendly,"Collado said.

The official announced that later there will be another delivery of trucks to other municipalities and municipal districts, with a similar investment, which would exceed a total investment of more than RD$250 million.

Nelson Núñez, president of the Dominican Federation of Municipalities (Fedomu), highlighted Collado's commitment to helping tourist municipalities.

Leoncito José, president of the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (Fedodim), stated that initiatives like this should serve as an example for other officials and state institutions.

Among the municipalities that benefited from the trucks are Barahona, Samaná, Constanza, Las Terrenas, Jarabacoa, Puerto Plata and La Romana.

The municipal districts that received the trucks include  Boca Chica, Río San Juan, La Caleta, La Otra Banda, Miches, Los Quemados, Los Patos, Las Galeras, as well as Verón, Punta Cana, Cumayasa, among others.

With the delivery of these 38 new dump trucks, we reiterate that the Dominican Republic is committed to cleanliness, sustainability, and order, not only as tools for beautification, but as public development policies that preserve what is most valuable to us: our natural resources, our hospitality, and our identity as a people.
