The measure is applied after the establishment complies with requirements and structural reinforcement work.
SANTO DOMINGO.- The Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED) yesterday, Friday, ordered the opening ofthe Dulce Hogar commercial establishment in the National District, after verifying that the business complied with the requirements approved by the Directorate of Supervision of Private Works of the Vice Ministry of Standards, Rules and Procedures.
The store had been closed in September of this year, along with other businesses, temporarily based on Law 687-82 and Technical Regulations R-004 (Decree 232-17) and R-021 (Decree 576-06), which provide the obligation to have a construction license and final inspection certification as prerequisites for the occupation and operation of buildings in the Dominican Republic.
Edgar Pellerano, Director of Private Works Supervision at MIVEHD, said: “Today we verified that everything was in accordance with the arrangements approved by the Processing Directorate, therefore we are issuing the store opening certificate, since the work met the necessary requirements and demands provided by the Ministry of Housing and Buildings.”
Pellerano also reiterated the message from Carlos Bonilla, head of the state entity, emphasizing that only businesses that participate in the conciliation process and submit the required documentation will be authorized to reopen.
As part of the required regularization process, the Dulce Hogar store carried out a series of structural interventionsto guarantee the safety of the property.
A press release from MIVHED details that these works included the placement of stiffeners on the main beams, in order to increase their stability and ensure proper load transmission.
Additionally, the beam-column connections were reinforced using metal plates, optimizing the transfer of stresses at the joints.
The correction and certification of all welds performed in the field was also carried out , guaranteeing their quality and alignment with technical standards
Finally, the verification, replacement and proper adjustment of the bolts in the metal connections was completed , in accordance with the structural design specifications.
The Ministry of Housing stated that, of the eleven stores closed in September, five, in addition to Dulce Hogar, have already submitted the necessary documentation, which is currently being reviewed by the Vice Ministry of Standards, Rules, and Procedures. The permits to begin operations will be issued in the coming days so that these businesses can carry out the necessary renovations.
The MIVHED reaffirmed its willingness to support establishments that have not yet been regularized and stressed that the main objective is to ensure that all businesses operate under safe conditions for the public that visits them.
