In Las Matas de Farfán, the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED) yesterday delivered 48 homes built with an investment of RD$84,334,000 to benefit the same number of families, whose children will also enjoy a basketball court and a play area.
A press release from MIVHED states that these homes are in addition to the 444 that have been repaired in that town.
During the event, the Minister of Housing, Carlos Bonilla, was accompanied by the First Lady, Raquel Arbaje, who recalled that in March of last year 2022, the first stage of this work was completed, which has not yet been finished, listing the actions carried out in favor of the residents of Mataró.
He cited as works in this second phase the Escondido play field, the Guayabo play field (in the final phase of construction), the repair of the multipurpose field, the municipal court and the Tito Alcántara play field, spaces that will give the youth of the community the opportunity to exercise in the favorite sport of Dominicans, for a total investment of the Ministry of Sports of RD$46,822,000.
Arbaje emphasized the importance of access to drinking water and sanitation for public health, highlighting the reconstruction of the wastewater treatment plant and the expansion of the aqueduct by the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage, works valued at RD$215,522,000. Meanwhile, the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources drilled 82 wells and enabled 105 lagoons, for a final investment of RD$13,497,000.
Similarly, he valued the improvement of the urban space with the paving of streets and avenues encompassing streets in the sectors of La Rancha, Don Alfonso, Villa Esperanza, El Cajuil, El Techado, José Francisco Peña Gómez, Las Matas de Farfán and the city center, as well as the San Juan – Las Matas de Farfán and Las Matas de Farfán- Elías Piña highways, in optimal condition, with a total cost of 821 million 492 thousand pesos by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, as well as the stable energy supply to 3,195 people and the street lighting, by Edesur, in which they spent RD$38,541,000.
