SANTO DOMINGO.- With a ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,000 people, the Marriott International hotel chain announced the opening of a new hotel in the exclusive Piantini area, in the center of Santo Domingo, National District.
“The Dominican Republic is a destination known for its geographic and cultural diversity, with Santo Domingo being a vibrant city and the first European settlement in the Americas. We are delighted to expand the brand’s presence in the capital with the opening of the Santo Domingo Marriott Hotel Piantini,” commented Brian King, President for the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), Marriott International.
“Marriott Hotels has always been a place where guests can seamlessly combine work and leisure, and Santo Domingo, with its dynamic business community, charming people, and exquisite cuisine, is the ideal location for this new hotel,” King added, according to a press release.
The press document explains that the new establishment was designed by the renowned firm Boris Pena Architects, Marriott Hotel Santo Domingo and is a representation of the indigenous culture of the Taino people fused with the cosmopolitan air of the city.
"Led by Ares Arquitectos, the hotel has a unique design that pays homage to the artistic richness of the island and the creative spirit of the city; this can be appreciated through the use of geometric shapes, patterned marble, golden details and warm colors in the different spaces, including the Greatroom lobby, restaurants and bars," it highlights.
The modern-inspired design, combined with the hotel's selection of materials, furnishings, and textures, defines its personality, creating a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere for guests.
More than 200 rooms
The Santo Domingo Marriott Hotel Piantini features 207 rooms and suites with spectacular views of the city skyline, day and night. Each unit boasts interiors in natural tones accented with dark mauve, plush beds, flat-screen TVs, and complimentary Wi-Fi for guests' convenience.
Marriott Hotel Piantini boasts the largest ballroom in the city, with nearly 3,000 square meters of meeting space and five rooms ideal for large-scale social events, corporate meetings and any gathering.
The Grand Ballroom can accommodate events for up to 1,000 people and can also be divided into three rooms. The lobby connects all the rooms and is the ideal location for registering for conferences, group sessions, exhibitions, or for a casual meeting.
